History of Mel Farr Ford/Dreamlife Auto Auction

In 1957, the land that is now seen a car dealership was still that of the Oakdale Gardens an African American housing project on Eight Mile Road for World War II production workers. By 1967 the land had been cleared of the houses that once were built there, however no development had been made until 1973 or before. By 1973 the land had been made into a 105,000-square-foot industrial warehouse, operated by the Union Tire Co. with standard retail storefront hours of 8:30 AM to 6:00 PM on weekdays and 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM

Recollection from the author

Dreamline Auto Auction was a otherwise unremarkable building, it’s former life as a car auction hall was hard to see aside from the small office towards the front of the building
