History of Sports N Stuff
Sports N Stuff was built and opened in 1992, and created by Paul Flores (June 26, 1949-July 23, 2023). Before creating Sports N Stuff, Paul was a 41 year electrician for the Ford Motor Company, and served in Vietnam. Alongside 4 other partners he co-founded the entertainment facility, Sports N Stuff in 1992. Throughout the 90s the facility served as a popular attraction in the local area, featuring an 18-hole miniature golf course, a go-kart track, batting cages, a bank shot basketball court, and a full indoor arcade. The facility also included a concession stand originally named "Hot Dog Haven, later rebranded as "The Double Play Café”. As neighboring towns grew and newer, larger entertainment facilities opened in the region, Sports N Stuff began to struggle to compete, and with necessary facility repairs, ownership was forced to gradually begin shutting down individual attractions. In 2002 the facility was forced to close. While many buyers have talked about buying the property, it has never been sold or repurposed for over 20 years. Between 2007 and 2009 the buildings of the facility were demolished however all the outdoor sports were kept intact. With the attractions being outdoor nature overtook each and every one of the sporting areas, and leaves today a very interesting a apocalyptic feeling remaining in the park. The battling cages have a ecosystem growing inside, and the go kart track has flooded in lower sections of the track. Today it remains abandoned in a state of disrepair with little hope of saving it.
Recollection from the author
The land of the former Sport N Stuff was a very unique, one of kind location. It had literally been taken back from nature. It’s flooded and overgrown nature gave it a very similar vibe to the Abandoned Pennsylvania Turnpike. In the summer when we explored, the nature aspect got to us, the heat, but more importantly the mosquitos ate us up.
